A nationally acclaimed little inn

The inn began simply with rented rooms in the mid-1970s, and subsequently opened as a bed & breakfast in 1988. For roughly half a century since, it has offered comfort and hospitality in a world-class setting: a quiet inn tucked into the Huachuca Mountains, surrounded by The Nature Conservancy's Ramsey Canyon Preserve and Coronado National Forest. The Arizona Republic named it one of the "Top 10 Bed & Breakfasts in Arizona," and generations of birders, hikers, and nature lovers have made it the trip they never skip.

The inn grew up around what's just outside its doors. Ramsey Canyon is the hummingbird capital of the United States, with up to fourteen species at the feeders. Gould's turkeys and herds of Coues whitetail deer cross the courtyard daily; black bear, coatimundi, and ringtail pass through; and trails into the Preserve and the high Huachucas begin a few steps from the rooms. Along the way the inn became known for its easy, unhurried hospitality — the morning feeders, the shared guest kitchen, and a pace that lets you slow down.

Ramsey Canyon Inn is family-run in the truest sense. Brice and Christy Semmens run the Ramsey Canyon Inn and its main-lodge rooms. The three Suites — Tanager, Oriole, and Eagle's Nest — are independently owned by Brian and Lisa Logan, who live right next door, and we provide booking and management for them through Ramsey Canyon Inn. Gray Hawk Retreat, just down the road, is independently owned as well, and likewise booked and managed through Ramsey Canyon Inn. Each property has its own grounds and amenities. Whichever you stay in, you're welcomed by hosts who genuinely love this canyon.

Brice & Christy Semmens

We're Brice and Christy Semmens, and as of June 2026 we have the privilege of caring for Ramsey Canyon Inn. We're lifelong birders and ecologists who have been coming to the canyon as visitors since our college days — long before cellphones and Merlin (who remembers listening to bird calls on CD in the car?!). Christy is a director of a conservation non-profit, and Brice is a professor at UC San Diego. While we both work full time in San Diego, we try to make it to the canyon as often as we can.

Our aim is to honor what's made this place beloved over the past half century — the morning feeders, tea and treats in the afternoon, the unhurried pace — while keeping it a clean, comfortable retreat. Our north star is simple: curate Ramsey Canyon Inn as a birder's and nature-lover's paradise, and be good stewards of one of the most extraordinary small pieces of habitat in North America. We can't wait to share it with you — and to talk tanagers to trogons when you're here.

Brian & Lisa Logan

Brian and Lisa Logan bring a lifelong passion for wildlife, conservation, and education to Ramsey Canyon Inn. Over the past decade Brian has served as the National Wildlife Program Leader with the U.S. Forest Service, while Lisa is a devoted special education teacher who has spent her career designing inclusive, hands-on learning experiences for young children.

Having lived in various locations across the United States and overseas, their shared love for the region's rich natural history and world-class birding eventually drew them back to Cochise County — returning Brian to the very canyon where he started his wildlife career as an intern with The Nature Conservancy while attending the University of Arizona. Now living in the Hummingbird House — on the independently owned suites property next door to the Inn — they combine their deep expertise in wildlife management and accessible education to share the magic, wonder, and biodiversity of Ramsey Canyon with every guest.

Ramsey Canyon Inn is a lodging business owned and operated by Skywing LLC. Skywing runs the main lodge as Ramsey Canyon Inn and provides booking and management for the independently owned suites and Gray Hawk Retreat; your reservation, payment, and stay are handled by Skywing LLC dba Ramsey Canyon Inn.
